CAMPSIE CEMETERY
Councillor Dempsey is delighted that work is progressing well in the construction of the New Cemetery adjacent to the High Park, Lennoxtown and it should be ready for March 2012 with a life span of 40 years.
The right of way from High Park to Crow Road has also been upgraded.
HIGH PARK PAVILION
Built circa 1940 will be demolished and a new state of the art pavilion constructed. This will compliment the work carried out on the New Cemetery. Work on the new pavilion will commence early 2012.
BIRDSTON ROAD, MILTON OF CAMPSIE
This section of road was in a poor condition and has now been upgraded.
GREEN BELT
Councillor Dempsey has fought over many years to preserve the Green Belt in Milton of Campsie and Lennoxtown areas and once again he has been successful in defending the Green Belt in our area.
FOOTPATH FROM ASHCROFT AVENUE TO MILTON ROAD, LENNOXTOWN
The lighting in this footpath has been upgraded following representation from constituents. This should make it safer for users.
SPEED BUMPS IN BENCLOICH ROAD, LENNOXTOWN
This work from Bencloich Crescent to Milton Road will start soon and Councillor Dempsey hopes this will reduce the speed of the vehicles on this road. Various accidents have occurred through the years with a fatality at one point.
GRIT BINS
Councillor Dempsey has received numerous complaints from across the ward regarding salt being taken from the bins after they were filled by the Council. Can this practice stop please?
KIRKINTILLOCH TOWN CENTRE MASTER PLAN
Councillor Dempsey attended the first of three public consultations on the above where the public were to give their views on the future of Kirkintilloch Town Centre. Councillor Dempsey was the only Councillor to attend the first meeting.
FORMER GARAGE SITE AT MILTON ROAD, KIRKINTILLOCH
John is hopeful that a Lidl Supermarket will be constructed on this site following the granting of planning permission subject to conditions. It is hoped that a fast food premises will also be constructed together with work units.
This should clean up a vacant site which has lain empty for many years and improve the access to Kirkintilloch from the villages.
RESURFACING OF ROADS
Various road have been resurfaced in Kirkintilloch, Milton of Campsie and Lennoxtown. The pot hole programme is also ongoing despite the financial cutbacks.
